Roper Gulf Regional Council is extremely proud to announce that 'Our Barunga Dogs' won the ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) NT Regional & Remote Merit Award for 2022!
The creation of this book is part of the Deadly Dogs Storytelling Project which is run by Council and delivered by StoryProjects.
The book was created and launched this year and is a celebration of love, companionship and the importance of dog ownership encountered in remote Indigenous communities.
The theme for the award this year was 'equity, diversity and inclusion'. The judges said that the book was a great example of a collaborative program that encompassed all aspects of library operations including literacy, learning, creativity, language, and media.

The images below are from the workshops in Barunga where the stories and pictures were created by the children and the voice recordings were done with Delma. There are also images of the official book launch held at the Barunga library where the children each received their own copy of the book.
