Good news for Cassandra Coulthard who has been selected into the Cert IV in Indigenous Leadership at the Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre based in Canberra. Cassandra who works for Roper Gulf Regional Council in Community Services will be travelling to Canberra in late September, October and November to do the prestigious training program.

Over 1500 people applied for the course Australia wide.

The intensive course prepares young Indigenous Australians for leadership in their communities.

Cassandra is a proud Adnyamathanha woman from the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and grew up in Port Augusta and Quorn in South Australia. She came to the Northern Territory to be with family and for the opportunity the Northern Territory and Roper Gulf Regional Council offers young people.

Mayor Tony Jack congratulated Cassandra saying,

“Having young people like Cassandra willing to take on leadership roles in our communities is so important and this course will help build her skills and confidence in leadership.

That Cassandra has been accepted into this course speaks highly of her and reflects well on the leadership and career development opportunities for young staff at the Council. Council is very keen to support further education and we look forward to being briefed by Cassandra on what she has learnt through the training.”
