Design plans are being developed for the construction of a memorial in Barunga. The design will communicate to young locals and visitors the important history of Aboriginal Land Rights and the Treaty Movement, with specific reference to the Barunga Statement. This project supports Roper Gulf Regional Council's strategic goals to foster increased participation in community activities and education, and to support building community infrastructure which positively contributes to resident needs and aspirations. Anticipated completion of design documentation and working drawings is December 2023.
