National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Our vision for reconciliation in the Roper Gulf region is mutually respectful relationships, developed capacity of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with creation of greater employment opportunities and increased understanding of the diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories in our service footprint, as stated in our Reconciliation Action Plan.
Reconciliation Week is the same date each year; 27 May to 3 June and this year Roper Gulf Regional Council was proud to coordinate and be involved in various reconciliation activities across our region.

Reconciliation Week in Borroloola
Thank you to the children and youth in Borroloola who participated in the National Reconciliation Week Soccer Matches on Friday 2 June 2023. There was great participation and it was a good hit out for those young people who are heading up to Darwin for the NT U/13s Soccer Titles in a few weeks.
Congratulations to all the individual winners who showed outstanding skills and effort. A big thank you to Matt Campbell and the JMF staff. Well done to local staff, Paul Avery and Desley Riley, and the ACLOs – DK and Hoffy who went out to support.
This event was proudly supported and sponsored by JMF, RGRC, MAWA Aboriginal Corporation and the Borroloola School.
