
Last week the Barunga Community celebrated a visit from Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AO, The Administrator of the Northern Territory during NAIDOC Week.
Thank you to everyone from Barunga who welcomed Her Honour to the community, including Traditional Owner Esther Bulumbara, Mayor Tony Jack and Councillor Helen Lee. Those in attendance included Samuel Buh-Blanasi, Chairman of Northern Land Council.
A special thank you also to the women from the Banatjarl Strongbala Wimun Grup who did a beautiful presentation on Country Bush Medicine.
Her Honour had lunch with the Arnhem Crows Football Club women's team, met some participants from the Learning on Country program, visited the Barunga Laundry, joined a Hoops 4 Health AUS clinic and had a tour of the Sunrise Health Service Aboriginal Corporation clinic.
Roper Gulf Regional Council is honoured to have been part of this day and Mayor Jack extends his appreciation to Her Honour for taking the time to listen and learn from the Barunga Community.
