Thank you to everyone who came and purchased an Egg and Bacon roll from the Katherine Support Centre this morning.
The breakfast fundraiser raised a total of $629.00, all of which will be donated to the disaster relief and recovery in Tonga.
Roper Gulf Regional Council will also be donating an additional $5,000, bringing the total to $5,629.00.
Staff cooked up and served breakfast for residents in Katherine from 7:00am until 9:00am, with supplies donated from Katherine Woolworths, Brumby's Katherine and Jones Meat Mart.
Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Marc Gardner said “The Council is proud to be able to make this donation to assist with the recovery in Tonga and our thoughts are with the families and communities who were affected.”
“Our Council is highly diverse with over 300 staff from many different backgrounds and Nations.
“We are proud that we have many Tongan staff also working with us and it is really great to know that this fundraising will directly support their communities and families in recovery efforts.
“It is through great work like this that makes our Council a great team, where we can all pitch together to support one another as work colleagues.
“I’m proud of our staff’s work this morning, they ran around like stray cats trying to pull it all together in a short space of time, and also extremely grateful to local businesses that helped donate food to make this happen.”
