The Chief Minister of the Northern Territory has formally announced that as of 1300hrs on 02 July 2021 all lockdowns have ceased i.e. the lockdown in the Greater Darwin Area and the lockdown in Alice Springs.
The Chief Minister has however, announced that there will be mandatory restrictions in place for those areas.
Council has not received any information pertaining to restrictions in the Roper Gulf Region, however residents and visitors are reminded that this might change if the Northern Territory Government deems it necessary to introduce restrictions.
Residents and visitors within the Roper Gulf Region are therefore advised to regularly check with the Northern Territory Government via its COVID-19 website at: https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/
All persons who are not residents of Aboriginal communities, who for whatever reason must enter or travel across Aboriginal land within the Roper Gulf Region, are advised to contact the Northern Land Council.
Council hereby thanks all those who have worked tirelessly in response to managing this situation.
Council understands that the COVID-19 situation has caused anxiety and stress, and it hereby thanks its residents, and visitors to the Region, for their understanding during this past week.
