COVID-19 Update for Roper Gulf Region

The Northern Territory Government has announced that as of 1:00pm on Wednesday 18 August 2021, no additional COVID-19 cases have been found.

The lockdown for the Katherine Region and the Greater Darwin Area may lift tomorrow as scheduled (Thursday 19 August 2021 at 12:00pm).

An announcement on the status of the lockdown will be provided by the Northern Territory Government tomorrow morning, however the Chief Minister has stated that restrictions WILL likely continue post-lockdown.

All persons who require further information are advised to visit the official NT Coronavirus website.

THE FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE LOCKDOWN STATUS WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE NORTHERN TERRITORY GOVERNMENT TOMORROW MORNING.

Council services within the Roper Gulf Region are continuing, however there may be administrative delays due to staff working from home.

Council asks residents and visitors to the Region to have patience at this uncertain time. All persons, who for whatever reason, must travel to Aboriginal Communities, are advised to get into contact with the Northern Land Council.

Lastly, Council thanks the Northern Territory Police, Emergency Services, and all other staff who are involved in managing this situation, for their tireless efforts. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
