COVID-19 Update for Roper Gulf Region

The Northern Territory Government has announced that the lockdown in the Katherine region has been extended to 12:00pm tomorrow, Friday 20 August 2021, while they await further COVID-19 test results.

The lockdown in the Greater Darwin Area ended as planned at 12:00pm today with restrictions in place.

An announcement on the Katherine lockdown will be provided by the Northern Territory Government tomorrow morning.

All Katherine-based Council staff will continue to work from home until more information is available tomorrow.

All Council Service Delivery Centres in the Roper Gulf region will continue to operate and provide services as normal.

All persons, who for whatever reason, must travel to Aboriginal Communities, are advised to get into contact with the Northern Land Council.

Lastly, Council thanks the Northern Territory Police, Emergency Services, and all other staff who are involved in managing this situation, for their tireless efforts. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
