The Northern Territory Government has announced that the lockdown in the Katherine region has been lifted as of 12:00pm today, Friday 20 August 2021, with no new cases being recorded in the last 24 hours.
Some restrictions will remain in place until 12:00pm on Thursday 26 August 2021 in the Katherine region and Greater Darwin area to continue to reduce the risk of COVID19.
For further information on these restrictions, please go to the NT Coronavirus website.
Travel will be permitted across the Territory but restrictions continue to apply and follow you, if you travel outside of the former Katherine or Greater Darwin lockdown areas.
All persons, who for whatever reason, must travel to Aboriginal Communities, are advised to get into contact with the Northern Land Council.
Lastly, Council thanks the Northern Territory Police, Emergency Services, and all other staff who are involved in managing this situation, for their tireless efforts.
