COVID-19 Update for Roper Gulf Region

Northern Territory Government Covid-19 announcement graphic

The Northern Territory Government has today announced an additional nine (9) positive COVID-19 cases have been identified in the Northern Territory overnight bringing the total number of cases for this cluster to eleven (11). All new cases are close household contacts of the original two (2) cases.

Due to these additional cases, the lockdown for Greater Katherine and Robinson River including surrounding homelands has been extended to Monday 22 November 2021 at 6:00pm.

All Katherine-based Council staff members have been asked to work from home for the duration of the lockdown unless they are essential staff and unable to perform their duties at home.

The Support Centre and Workshop in Katherine will be closed during this time.

All non-Katherine based staff are to continue operating as usual and Council services and programs will continue to run across the Roper Gulf region where possible.

Everyone in the Northern Territory must wear a facemask whilst out in public until Monday 22 November 2021 at 6:00pm. This is a Territory-wide mandatory requirement, not just Katherine and Robinson River.

All Council staff will also be following the guidelines for remote work and travel which are available here

Please avoid non-essential travel within the Roper Gulf region until further information on the cluster of cases is available and make sure you use the Territory Check-In app whenever you visit a public site.

Roper Gulf Regional Council is thinking of the Robinson River community and all those who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Territory and their families.

All official COVID-19 information is to be found here
