Roper Gulf Regional Council has engaged Urban Space Design to undertake public consultation around the future aspirations of Ngukurr and surrounding communities Sport and Recreation facilities and infrastructure. With so many facilities in need of proper drainage; landscaping; water and toilets for everyday usage as well as civic events throughout the year it’s important for Council to seek the views of the local community and identify the needs and priorities of residents.
The Council and Ngukurr LA has committed significant funds for the Sport and Recreation precinct and to ensure Council can get the most value for money, it needs good planning and design to ensure all sporting and recreational uses can be catered for over time.
Council is also currently working on an access and drainage plan with engineers to provide the underlying infrastructure for the precinct as well.
Council executives and the consultant, Urban Place Design will be visiting community on the week of the 13th of May to speak with locals and share the various ideas, plans and concepts that could be possible for the future development of this essential infrastructure including:
- A second open multi-purpose court for 24/7 use (tennis, basketball and netball)
- Dancing circle area at festival time
- New pool entry and life guard station
- Toilet and showers
- Outdoor stage
- Carparks
- Seating
- Footpaths
This is open to all members of Ngukurr community, and all ideas are welcome.
