Tony Jack has returned to the role of Roper Gulf Regional Council’s Mayor following last month’s Northern Territory election.

Mayor Jack resigned on August 8 to contest the election, but applied to Chief Executive Officer Michael Berto on August 31 to be reinstated once the outcome for the electorate of Barkly was known.

The move is in accordance with Section 39 (6)(c) of the Local Government Act.

Mayor Jack said his focus was now on continuing to lead a Council that was committed to delivering for residents and ratepayers.

“Council has a lot of key projects we want to deliver across our communities in the coming year,” he said.

“I’m proud to be Mayor of a Council dedicated to bettering services and infrastructure in the Roper Gulf Local Government area.”

Judy MacFarlane, who has been Acting Mayor since Mayor Jack’s resignation, will continue as the Council’s Deputy Mayor.
