Beswick Floods Update Three

Roper Gulf Regional Council Logo

Rain fall totals in the Waterhouse River catchment has averaged 50mm over the last 24 hours which is sustaining the flow at a level above the major flood level (8.3 metres at the Bridge). This will slow the rate of fall as it recedes.

The current level at the bridge is 8.6 metres and it is expected to remain around the 8.3 metres level throughout the rest of the day.

There have been intermittent heavy showers overnight and this morning.

The Council Services Manager has reported that the evacuation centre at the school continues to operate and Aged Care clients who are sheltered there are well and happy.

There is food, water and power available in the new subdivision.

The emergency services are not expecting access to be opened to the town and Central Arnhem Highway East of Barunga till at least Sunday 29 March.

No survey of damage has been done to date.

No further scheduled updates will be made.
