Playground Projects

Young children playing on new playground

New playgrounds infrastructure is currently being installed across the Roper Gulf Region in accordance with several grants provided by the Territory Government.

With a combined funding totaling $479,000 (GST Exclusive), the new equipment will have a positive impact in a number of communities.

All physical works will be carried out by local contractors in accordance with Councils commitment to support the economic development of the Region.

A number of the playground projects are already complete and in addition to the new equipment shade covers over the playgrounds have greatly improved the level of UV protection for children in Bulman and Ngukurr.

Playgrounds promote healthy and pro-active sport and active recreation options which are crucial to the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development of children and provide spaces where young families can meet and socialise.

Mayor Judy MacFarlane stated, “On behalf of Council and the Roper Gulf Region, I would like to thank the Northern Territory Government Departments involved in these developments for supporting important local projects.”
