The Roper Gulf Shire Mayor Tony Jack this afternoon announced that Roper Gulf Shire has won a five year Tender to deliver the Remote Jobs and Communities Program across the Ngukurr and Numbulwar Region.
A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR:
I am really excited by this announcement as it recognises our previous achievements and proven capacity to take this project forward. We also had overwhelming support from our communities and residents to continue the outstanding job we have been doing.
Roper Gulf Shire has a proven track record in the area of jobs for community, both with the old CDEP and other job training and development programs. Jobs and work readiness training are really important to our community if not the key to our economic future and this announcement secures the programs currently in place and opens opportunities to extend these really important programs.
Future community projects will be identified through coordination with community stakeholder groups including Indigenous corporations. Together we will deliver a program that meets the needs of job seekers and community aspirations.
The Roper Gulf Shire Council staff have shown dedication and commitment to improving the lives of people living in the bush. The new tender will provide ongoing employment all staff currently working under the CDEP and offer at least a further 11 positions until 30 June 2018.
