Animal Management Program Closed for Wet Season

Vet Vehicle with Community Dogs

We regret to inform you that our Animal Management Program will be temporarily closed from Monday 27 November 2023 to Monday 22 January 2024.

This decision stems from the unavailability of qualified veterinary staff and the challenging wet season conditions during this time.

Unfortunately, without a qualified veterinarian available, we are legally unable to provide any veterinary services in the Roper Gulf region, including vaccinations.

Additionally, our veterinary nurse Kay will be on annual leave during this period and will not be available to address any enquiries.

If you find yourself in need of urgent veterinary assistance, we kindly ask that you connect with a private vet clinic in Katherine or Darwin to seek the necessary care.

For those in urgent need, there will be a limited number of monthly wormers available at each Council office. This provision is particularly essential for the well-being of puppies throughout the wet season and is to assist those in financial difficulty. Please reach out to one of our Council Service Managers (CSMs) for further assistance.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.

Rest assured, we eagerly anticipate the Animal Management Program returning in the new year with a renewed strength.

Thank you,

The Roper Gulf Regional Council Animal Management Team
