Congratulations to our Chief Executive Officer Marc Gardner, who just celebrated his 10th year working at Roper Gulf Regional Council.
Before being appointed CEO in May 2022, Marc was the General Manager of Corporate Services and Sustainability where he oversaw the Community Development Program, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Work Health and Safety and Compliance.
Marc leads the organisation with an abundance of knowledge about local government and of the Roper Gulf region, developed through years of experience in the industry and living in the Northern Territory and Queensland. His passion for strategic planning has provided a road map to guide local decision making and aligned employees, stakeholders and residents on the organisation's goals.
During Marc's time since becoming our Chief Executive Officer, the Council has adopted a five-year Strategic Plan, developed a Reconciliation Action Plan, conducted an organisational review and held Council's first ever 'All Staff Teams Meeting' and has a whole range of exciting projects and initiatives in the pipeline.
Mayor Tony Jack congratulated Marc on behalf of the Council.

“In the ten years that Marc has worked here, the organisation has grown to be one of the largest service providers and employers within the region and I would like to thank Marc for his leadership and dedication towards making this happen.
"We are really proud to have seen Marc grow as a leader and move in the CEO position and would like to thank him for his strength, endurance and commitment", said Mayor Jack.
The Katherine Support Centre celebrated Marc's significant achievement with a small luncheon and a beautiful cake made by our talented Payroll Coordinator Laki.
