As the leading employer in the Roper Gulf region, Council is an important part of the communities it services and invites local people to consider joining its workforce.
At Roper Gulf Regional Council we are passionate about our people. Without capable and committed employees, Council could not deliver the extensive range of core, agency and commercial services that we do across all 14 of the remote communities and townships in our region - and that is why our employees are our most valuable asset.
If you want to work in any of our regional and remote locations, we’d love to hear from you!
About us
The beauty of a career with us is that there are a multitude of options available within the organisation, irrespective of your interests, skills or background. Working as one towards a better future, we are extremely proud of how much we have achieved for the people who reside in the Roper Gulf region.
Roper Gulf Regional Council delivers a wide range of municipal and community services and programs within one of the most spectacular and remote areas of the Northern Territory. The Councils area spans 201,000 square kilometres – almost three times the size of Tasmania – making Council’s operational footprint one of the largest in the Northern Territory.
Roper Gulf Regional Council is also the largest local employer of Indigenous staff, with 70% of our current workforce identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Roper Gulf Regional Council is consistently striving to be a great place to work, with a highly engaged and skilled workforce across each remote community who are committed to working towards Council’s Vision and who reflect and demonstrate Council’s values.
Employee benefits
It is important to us that we are considered an employer of choice by providing a positive working environment, offering opportunities for training and career development and supporting a healthy work/life balance. We understand that work is just one part of life and are there to support our employees both at work and at home, offering a high degree of flexibility in working arrangements to our employees.
Additional benefits include 6 weeks annual leave plus leave loading, 10 days sick leave, salary packaging options, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
We are committed to attracting and recruiting the best possible candidates for available positions. To enable this to happen Council offers assistance with relocation expenses for Senior Management staff, staff subject to individual contracts or workplace agreements and any other prospective staff member that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) deems suitable.
According to the Relocation Assistance Policy, Council will pay the reasonable costs associated with the relocation of an incoming employee from their current place of residence to an address within the Council boundaries up to the amount of $5,000.00, or otherwise specified in writing by the CEO.
