Almost half a million dollars in community infrastructure projects have been rolled-out across the Roper Gulf region this financial year thanks to the ongoing support of the NT Government’s Community Benefit Fund.
Council secured just over $480,000 (GST exclusive) through the program this year to help deliver projects in seven remote towns and communities including:
- Mataranka: multi-purpose sports courts $175,000 (completed)
- Manyalluluk: road safety improvements $10,000 (completed)
- Larrimah: greening park upgrade $10,000 (completed)
- Numbulwar: AFL goal posts $7,010 (completed)
- Barunga: oval watering system upgrade $9,688 (underway)
- Ngukurr: playground upgrade $146, 841 (underway)
- Bulman: playground construction $122, 161 (underway)
The total investment in these projects by Roper Gulf Regional Council and the NT Government is expected to reach just under $650,000 on completion.
The latest round of the Community Benefit Fund closed on March 16, with the program now under review in a bid to deliver a more rigorous and robust grants process.
Council would like to thank the Minister for Racing, Gaming & Licensing, the Community Benefit Fund committee and Member for Arnhem Selena Uibo for supporting these important local initiatives.
