The Commonwealth funded School Nutrition Program is set to kick-off in the Bulman and Manyallaluk communities again this month, providing healthy and nutritious meals to school-aged children.
The program, administered by Roper Gulf Regional Council on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, provides breakfast and lunch five days per week to school children in both communities. Each child enrolled in the program also receives a lunch box.
This important initiative aims to increase student engagement and attendance, while also providing employment and training opportunities for local Indigenous people. Around 45-50 children are expected to benefit from the program again this year.
The Term 1 program runs between January 30th – April 13th. Cost is $8.00 per day, paid through fortnightly Centrelink payments.
